  • PetesBloodyHand:

Ever since I started exercise its been the single most effective thing i’ve done in the last 6 years to help alleviate my anxiety. Its amazing how much better I feel.

Had a panic attack last night, times have been stressful lately, IM a critcal care ICU nurse and I have a new found appreciation for people in extreme states of fear with heart problems or any life threatening state, I believe God gave me this experience to help me have more empathy and insight into this fear emotion to be able to help and understand other people in this state. I had to work on breathing to relax, and I did pray to God, and I heard Carlos Santanas voice saying peace and light

  • yoyali92:

Go to this guys site. He has some interesting stuff about the cycle of worrying. Also i called his # for free and he actually picks up. as for personal advice stay off caffeine and weed and join a sports team if available. the only time I feel complete anxiety relief is when playing sports. Regular exercise just doesn’t cut it. I think for every person its different but for a short term relief find something that you enyoy that keeps your mind distracted. thats about all iv figurd out in 2 years

  • brittania1974:

Yes that is a ‘normal’ (though it may seem severe) physical reaction from the anxiety created by thoughts that you have allowed to manifest in your mind. The physical attacks are brought on from the thoughts in your mind. Talking about your thoughts (not the panic attacks) is where the relief is. People tend to focus on the attacks themselves instead of what it causing them. Talk to me about it if you are having attacks, I used to have them, have not had one in 9 years.

  • inkey2:

my fondest fantasy as an agorophobic: to be able to drive myself to the beach and smell the ocean air. It’s been 25 years since I have done that.

  • inkey2:

Brittania1974: so you think sitting in your living room, gasping for air, head spinning, about to faint, about to vomit, seeing odd visual manifestations is a NORMAL REACTION?

  • inkey2:

To garycalgary: panic attacks could be either genetic, learned or “both”. I have had attacks since I was 13 years old….I am now 55. I would think if yours is genetic…..that would be all the more reason to be on meds because no “talking type of therapy” can talk you out of a genetic problem.
My mother, brother & sister all have “panic attacks”.

  • AnxietyCoach:

Absolutely. If we didn’t feel like we were going to die this would’t be that big of a deal. We all feel like we are dieing, you just get used to it over time. The more panic-attacks that you have (and you never really die) the more that you get over that fear.

  • MandAgamereviews:

hey i have panic attacks alot and it feels like im going to die is this normal because its really scary and it feels like im losing my mind

  • garycalgary:

i am dead convinced that it is a genetic disorder. I know what causes it, i need to stay away from the source.

I went to a shrink who put me on meds-but we never talked-so i figured out the problem and he saw me one time after I stopped the meds. He was considered respected in the medical world and when i told him i threw the pills away and stopped taking them he stuck his nose in the air–i worked in the hospital and saw him all the time.

  • brittania1974:

It is not a disorder, it is a normal reaction to fear. I would not listen to doctors, the best people to listen and take advice from are people who have suffered and who have experienced it first hand. People who suffer are special individuals who tend to have more thoughts and feelings than the average individual. Understand your THOUGHTS and pay attention to them, it is the THOUGHTS that create the panic, be strong and fight the thoughts and tell yourself the OPPOSITE of fearful thoughts.
